Grilled garlic honey glazed salmon

Hi everyone, my blog is up and down lately; I try to update whenever I can. Not that I'm free at all but when I'm really free I like to steal the time to actually relax and do nothing. I've been cooking as usual and share my photos on IG but don't really sit down and blog about it.

I feel so long that I actually got time to sit down and blog. Today Abraham went out and little Sahara in slumber land so I try to steal this time to at least share something.

I wanted to share this Salmon recipe that I recently made. I hardly buy salmon or eat the often outside. But I found this recipe I love the flavors and I'm sure it will turn amazingly delicious. Plus, one of my blogger friend Rafeeda hoping that I share this recipe anytime soon. but my so called soon kinda late haha sorry.

Grilled garlic honey glazed salmon

If you like sticky sweet flavors then you would love this recipe;


2 pieces of salmon
Black Pepper
1 tsp dark soy
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp apple cider vinger
3 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon warm water
1 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon olive oil
3 cloves garlic, minced


Season the surface of the salmon with salt, black pepper, dark soy and worcestershire. Set aside.

Mix the honey, water, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice and a pinch of salt together. Stir to combine well.

Heat up a skillet with the olive oil. Pan-fry the salmon until half done. Add the garlic into the pan until slightly browned. Add the honey mixture into the skillet, reduce the sauce until it’s sticky. slowly add in the salmon and cook for about 1 or 2 mins for both side. Make sure the skin side stay crispy.

Its actually very simple to prepare it; don't cook the salmon too long if not it will be chewy. :)

Steamed Chicken & Mushroom

Yesterday I made this healthy yet delicious Chinese dish. I never actually try this steamed recipe before but I have to try to know it right?..

And it absolutely delicious and definitely healthy. Instead of having fried or curries most of the time. I guess we needed to change a little bit here and there. 

Serves 3-4
450g chicken thigh fillets,diced
5 spring onion( white part only) cut into 2cm lengths
150g fresh shiitake or button mushroom, cut in half
2 large thin slices fresh ginger, finely shredded
1 1/2 tbsp light soy sauce
2tbsp vinegar
1/3tsp salt
1/3tsp caster sugar
1tbsp peanut oil
3tbsp chicken stock or water
1 1/4tsp cornflour
Chopped fresh coriander or spring onions,for garnish


Combine all the ingredients (except cornflour n garnish). In a shallow bowl. Set the bowl in a steamer over simmering water, cover and steam for about 30mins, until the chicken is tender.

Strain the liquid into a wok. Mix the cornflour with 2tbsp water cold water abd stir into the sauce. Simmer until the sauce thicken and becomes translucent.

Pour the sauce over the chicken and mushroom, and garnish with herbs.

Fish Ball Noodle Soup

Yesterday I went to Kuala Selangor, It was an unplanned trip. We were bored at home so my husband thought maybe we drive there and have a nice seafood dinner by the river. Every time we visited KS we will definitely go for this seafood restaurant called River View. But I guess yesterday would be my last visit there as the food is no longer great as before. Beside River View seafood there's another shop called JETI seafood, I haven't try it but will do when my next visit to KS.

Opposite the River View restaurant there's a shop selling fresh noodles, fish balls, yong tau foo ingredients, baked pastries etc..another shop that i will go and get my fresh fish ball here. If you buying fish ball it always best get them at the wet market where they are packed in a bag of water. The wet market fish balls can’t keep for long, best used on the same day. They taste fresher than the supermarket ones.

You can also add yong tau foo for more variety.

Fish Ball Noodle Soup:

50 gram ikan bilis (anchovies) rinsed well
700 ml water
16-20 fish balls
3 serving noodles
4 leaves lettuce, sliced thinly
2 tsp fried shallot
salt and light soy sauce to taste, if needed 
2 tbsp chopped scallions
chili padi ( bird eye chili), sliced


First I prepare the ikan bilis stock, bring the 700ml water and ikan bilis to boil, reduce heat and simmer for about 15 minutes. Remove the ikan bilis using the strainer and keep the stock. 
Slowly add in the salt and light soy sauce in the stock. while the stock is simmering add the fish balls and yong tau foo and cook until they float to surface. 

In a separate pot of boiling water, blanch or deep the noodle into the boiling water and drained immediately. 
Separated cooked noodles into serving bowl and pour the cooked fish balls soup over.  Garnish with lettuce, chopped scallions and serve with chili padi with light soy sauce at the side.

Basic Chocolate Pinwheel Cookies

Doctor told me to bed rest, but the thing is I can't sit down and do nothing. I gotta keep moving, but I am no longer taking orders or bake large amount due to the baby coming out soon. Will be back baking once my confinement is over. 

My recent bake for today, as I supplies cookies for a cafe boutique nearby my area. I would like to make a little change on my normal daily cookies. Wanted something different this time. And I wanted to share also with my friends this simple, delicious pinwheel cookies recipe. It's crispy, crunchy and also light.

Chapatis with Chole

It's been a busy week and I've been eating non stop; I needed to avoid rice for temporary until the baby is finally I decided to take control before I exceeded the proper weight given by the doctor.

Anyhow, chapatis wasn't in my mind until my sister requested with chickpeas. So, I thought why not I have the same meal as well. It's simple, quick and filling too. 

Frome time to time I try to make my chapatis like my mother in law's version; which is soft, moist and fluffy at the same time. Finally, I think today I've reached that level probably.

Roti Jala

Finally I'm able to get my hands back in blogging, I guess for awhile. Eventho, I in my last trimester of pregnancy, I got two months left before the little one arrives, but it didn't stop me from getting myself busy with cooking and baking.

The first day of Eid me and hubby prepared rendang daging, ayam, ketupat, dalcha, chicken curry, harrisa and roti jala. It might sound a lot, but the first day of Eid is all the family members will be at my place. 

Roti Jala has been a tradition in my family since younger days. And I want to remain the tradition.

Chicken & Mushroom Stroganoff

I've here on and off, I guess some of you understand my situation at this moment.  I cook like usual just didn't snap any photos or sometimes my mum will help me cooking due to my condition.

Tonight, I've prepared this delicious chicken and mushroom stroganoff again. I've cook this last year and had it with rice and it was simply yum. This time I wanted to try with spaghetti. 

Having with pasta, it taste very light and simple and creamy and delicious! Totally enjoyed it. Have to boil the pasta twice because it finish in a second!

The Everything Burger

The Everything Burger how simple is that? You got your slaw in as well. This cheeseburger includes pickles and coleslaw along with some of the more traditional burger sandwiches.

This recipe I'm sharing today only take 30 minutes. For the first time I'm using the grinder with the help of my husband and dad for sure or else no dinner lol... Recently, when my husband bought me the Kenwood cake stand. We received this as a gift during the promotion. And seriously haven't tried it until today.

It's best to use tenderloin will cook your meat faster. If you making your own patties make it double and wrap individually and freeze for up to 3 months.



Makes 4

450g/ 1 lb fresh beef mince

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp pepper

Vegetable oil, for frying

4 cheddar cheese slices

4 soft burger buns

Mustards, for spreading




1. Put the mince into a medium bowl with the salt and pepper and gently combine, then divide into 4 portions and shape each portion into a patty.

2. Place a ridged griddle pan over a medium-high heat and add enough oil to coat the base of the pan. Add the patties, partially cover and cook for about 4 minutes, without moving until they are brown and release easily from the pan. Turn, place a slice of cheese on top of each patty, partially cover and cook for a further 3 minutes.

3. Split the burger buns and spread with mustard and toast it in the pan to get the crispy mustard flavors on both halves of each bun and place a few slices of pickles, on each bun base. Set a patty on top each base, add some coleslaw and a tomato slices and serve immediately.

Cream Puffs

I love cream puffs, durian puffs etc. I enjoyed the filling, especially serve it when it's cold. It's so perfect. This is actually my first time making this cute puffs and glad it works and bloom pretty well. I love the crisp on the outside and soft on the inside.

1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/2 tsp granulated white sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup unsalted butter, cut into pieces
1/2 cup water
2 large eggs, lightly beaten 

1 Large egg

Whipped Cream:

1 cup heavy whipping cream (double cream)
1/2 vanilla extract
1 1/2 tbsp granulated white sugar


Powdered sugar


Choux Pastry: Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) and place rack in center of oven. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly butter or spray the pan with a non stick vegetable spray.

In a bowl, sift or whisk together the flour, sugar and salt.

Place the butter and water in a heavy saucepan over medium high heat and bring to a boil. (Make sure that the butter melts before the water boils to reduce the amount of evaporation.) Remove from heat and, with a wooden spoon, add the flour mixture, all at once, and stir until combined. Return saucepan to the heat and stir constantly until the dough comes away from the sides of the pan and forms a thick smooth ball (about 1-2 minutes). Transfer the dough to your electric mixer, or use a hand mixer, and beat on low speed to release the steam from the dough (about a minute). Once the dough is lukewarm start adding the lightly beaten eggs (dough will separate and then come together) and continue to mix until you have a smooth, thick paste (dough will fall from a spoon in a thick ribbon). Spoon or pipe 12 small mounds of dough onto the baking sheet, spacing about 2 inches (5 cm) apart. With a pastry brush, gently brush the tops of the dough with a lightly beaten egg.

Bake for 15 minutes and then reduce the oven temperature to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C). Continue to bake for a further 30 to 35 minutes or until the shells are a nice amber color and when split, are almost dry inside. Turn the oven off, poke a couple of holes in each puff and, with the oven door slightly ajar, let the shells completely cool (and dry out).

Whipped Cream: In a large mixing bowl, place the whipping cream, vanilla extract, and sugar and stir to combine. Cover and chill the bowl and whisk in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes. When chilled, whip the cream just until stiff peaks form.

To Assemble: Split the pastry shells in half and fill (or pipe) with whipped cream. Place the top half of the pastry shell on the whipped cream and dust with powdered (confectioners or icing) sugar. Leftover Cream Puffs can be stored in the refrigerator.

When I was small my mum often makes this for tea time or after dinner. It's cooling and topped with a warm creamy sauce, which it gives an amazing taste! Totally own it.

I decided to bring back to this simple yet delicious custard for teatime today. Plus, I was having friends over to help me with some works.

Making custard wasn't that hard and it less than an hour to prepare everything.

Quick Brownie with drizzle Caramel

I love brownies; so does my family. Doesn't matter what type of brownie, we're in. This one I made yesterday. It's completely delicious. Its outta of the world! totally nailed it. I baked it for the the time the clock struck 6 it's all gone...just left the clean tray. ahaha

It's superb delicious than one piece is never enough for you. I love the moist, soft and crumble texture. And on the other side; it's not's just perfect. and drizzle some caramel syrup on top.


3/4 cup vegetable oil
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
3 eggs
3/4 cup flour
1/3 cup + 2 1/2 tbsp cocoa
1/4 tsp + 1/8 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9x9 square baking pan, or line it with parchment paper.
2. Mix together the oil, sugar and vanilla extract.
3. Add eggs and mix until well combined.
4. Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt.
5. Slowly add to the egg mixture until well combined.
6. Pour the batter into the pan and spread evenly.
7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with a few crumbs.

Strawberry Smoothies

Hi lovelies, one thing I love about my son is he loves trying new thing and the taste comes second. I'm happy that he wants to try everything. My main point is always giving him the best and healthiest choice of food. Hoping that as he grew up; he knows to choose his food and drink wisely.

Recently I bought fresh almond milk for him, before I try making something out of it. I let him try to drink it first in small amounts; towards my amazement he drank in one shot! Meaning he's totally okay with it.

So, I decided to make this delicious strawberry smoothie for his next day breakfast.  Well, not only he enjoyed it but also his father enjoying having it for breakfast. It's totally packed and filling. All you need is fresh almond milk and frozen strawberry. Fresh strawberry will do and you have to add ice as well. I choose frozen because it's already cold enough; 


1 cup frozen strawberries
1 1/2 cup fresh almond milk


Add both ingredients in the blender and give it a good whisk. If you feel it's too thick you can add extra milk. We prefer a thicker way. Straight pours into the glass and enjoy.

If you need it a little sweeter just add 2tbsp honey should be fine. I didn't add sugar or honey.

Red Velvet Pancakes

Hi lovelies, another amazing pancakes I have made recently. Knowing I'm addicted to red velvet, I definitely try not to miss this opportunity to make this another treat of red velvet. My little boy was hungry in the evening so I decided to give him this treat and he was amazed with the color! It was his first time having his pancake different color.

This is another recipe you can put in your breakfast lists! 


2 cups all-purpose flour
3 Tbsp cocoa powder
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups milk
2 Tbsp white vinegar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 1/2 Tbsp red food coloring
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/3 cup salted butter, melted


In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt, set aside.

Measure out milk into a liquid measuring cup and whisk in vinegar, allow mixture to rest for 2 minutes. Pour milk mixture into a separate large mixing bowl and add in sugar, eggs, red food coloring, vanilla and melted butter. 

Whisk mixture until well combines. While whisking, slowly add in dry ingredients and mix just until combined. Butter pan if necessary and pour about a 1/4 - 1/3 cup batter at a time onto a hot pan

Cook until bubbles begin to appear on the top surface of the pancakes, then flip and cook opposite side until pancake is cooked through.

Serve warm with Cream Cheese Glaze and garnish with fresh raspberries and mint leaves if desired. I skip this part of having cream cheese.

Wishing Happy New Year to all my friends. families and follower. Wish I be wiser this year; Hope this year going to be better than last year. So, I decided to share this first 2015 recipe. It's spicy and surely amazing with flavors
